Any ideas why this might be?** A: I found this on the You View Community website which worked for me. Thanks to jezcaine who posted it. The instructions in my manual missed a step out or was confused.At step 4 after the TV has turned off - "testing" the remote was pressing the 'TV On' button. The TV does not come on, but the red LED on the TV flickers meaning it is sensing the remote.THEN - you press OK on the YouView remote control unit.Now the YV remote TV ON, TV AV, and Vol controls work. **Q: Does anyone know if this uses infra red or radio frequency? would it work if there was no line of sight?** A: i think you need line of site and it uses infra red, it can bounce of a wall at short range but wouldnt guarantee it. You used to be able to get someting that plugged in at two ends and worked similar to a mains wifi extender but repeated your remote instructions but dont know if still available or not? **Q: This is only £19.99 on the bt website a with very speedy delivery** A: I bought mine from Amazon and it was delivered in about 2-3 days. Really happy with the product and the service. **Q: Will having a new replacement youview remote mean I can get the blue "y"button to press with ease?** A: If the Y button is intermittently not making contact, see if the PVR button ,( top centre), lights up when the Y is pressed, then it will make a difference if you replace the remote. This applies to any button on the pad. Works a treat. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good replacement *by O***E on 9 January 2024* Like other reviewers my 12 yr+BT youview remote started to fail - the skip and fast forward stopped working completely. This replacement is a fair price and worked immediately I put batteries in. It's exactly the same layout as the old remote except for the centre buttons not having the metal coating. I found this a bit difficult to get used to and had to keep putting a lamp on to see what I was pressing, it's not as intuitive as the old style. I haven't been able to pair this with my Hisense TV but this doesn't bother me as it wasn't paired previously. All in all I'm very happy with this product and the ease of skipping ads and fast forwarding being restored.
