## Description

From the manufacturer Fluke 62 MAX+ IR Thermometer Why IR Thermometers? Temperature is often the first indication of potential problems in electrical and mechanical applications. But how can you easily determine if an electrical panel has a hot spot, a motor is overheating or an HVAC system is inefficient? The answer is with an infrared (IR) thermometer. With handheld, non-contact IR thermometers, you can instantly measure equipment temperatures in hard-to-reach or hazardous areas. And with early detection of abnormal temperatures comes early correction of problems. Why Fluke 62 MAX+? Designed with your on-the-job needs in mind, the new Fluke 62 MAX+ infrared thermometer is everything you’d expect from the experts in measurement tools: small in size, extremely accurate and very easy to use. IP54 rated for dust and water resistance. Precise yet rugged enough to take a 3-meter drop. In fact, the 62 MAX+ is so tough, it's the only IR thermometers around you can handle without care. Small in size. Big on toughness. Dual lasers: The 62 MAX+ has dual rotating lasers to help you identify area to be measured. The measurement area is the spot between the dots Dust and water-resistant: IP54 rated for dust and water resistance Rugged: 3-meter (9.8-foot) drop tested. Ergonomically designed: Completely redesigned for a more comfortable hand fit Small in size: Small and lightweight; clips to your tool belt or belt loop or easily fits into your tool box Distance to spot: Precise laser technology makes for more accurate and repeatable measurements. Min/Max/Avg/Dif: Displays the minimum, maximum or average temperature, or the difference between two measurements Large, backlit display: Large screen makes data easier to read, even in dark areas. Alarm: Hi and Lo alarms for rapid display of measurements outside the limits Power: The 62 MAX+ is powered by a single, standard AA battery

Review: Thermometer - Nice item
Review: Good Quality Kit and quick turnaround - Good quality equipment and easy to use everything we have come to expect from fluke, it also seems quite robust but I have bought a protective case for added piece of mind as the unit did not come in a manufacturers box which leads me to believe it has been on display. Did however come well protected with all instructions and dispatched incredibly quickly, was ordered 18:00 on Monday, dispatched Tuesday and Wednesday; it not scheduled to arrive until between Thursday and Next Tuesday so very please

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this made in the USA?**
A: In the battery compartment of my Fluke 62 MAX+, it states that the unit was made in China in June 2012. Hope this helps.

**Q: Does this unit adjust for emissivity?**
A: According to the manufacture's website the Max Plus can be manually adjusted for emissivity in a range from 0.1 to 1.00

**Q: i cant decide on this or the 62 max - any words of wisdom?**
A: Fluke's web site shows that the Max+ is better in every respect except battery life with laser and backlight on (10 vs. 8 hours) but Amazon inverted the prices today so there's no trade-off to make:Top-end: 500 versus 650 °CAccuracy above 0 °C: greater of ±1.5 °C or ±1.5% versus greater of ±1.0 °C or ±1.0%Response Time: <500 ms versus <300 msOptical Resolution: 10:1 versus 12:1Repeatability: greater of ±0.8% of reading or <±1.0 °C (2 °F) versus greater of ±0.5% of reading or <±0.5 °C (1 °F)For my uses measuring attic temperatures, fry pans, fuse boxes, computer chips, hard drives and compact florescent bulb ballasts that seem to get hot before failing, either model would be fine. I hope that getting a Fluke means that this will tolerate static electricity and drops better and maintain accuracy as the battery wears down or the sensor ages so the specs actually mean something.

**Q: I have figured how to set most everything but does anyone know what "tr i9" refers to for item #7 in the manual? Fluke is not much on words.**
A: This is the most confusing part of the manual (since its all pictograms w/o any text describing it). What the trig setting (on or off) does: If set to "on" then the unit will, if the trigger is held in for 10+ minutes, shut off after 10 minutes. No effect on normal usage. The normal operation is press trigger, let go, read the display... 5-6 seconds later the unit shuts off. But if you toss it in your tool bag, pocket, etc and happen to depress the trigger and it stays that way, it will shut off after 10 minutes - to save battery life. I'd have like to seen a configurable time, or a smaller time - 10 minutes seems excessive. Anything over a minute seems excessive to me.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well, its a Fluke!
*by Y***S on 7 September 2019*

Well, its a Fluke! Not much else needs to be said. Reliable, accurate, robust but .... expensive. I bought this as a replacement for a much cheaper IR thermometer I bought from ebay which was clearly not that consistent with readings. My primary use is temperature measurements in electronic components while they are in service. So reliability is a must.
