Will it work on hornby? If so how often should I use it?** A: I have found it quite effective. Have my old childhood Hornby train track that is pinned to a hardboard base. Needed to clean it up and maintain it reasonably electrically clean. PECO is essentially a rubber with flecks of abrasive material impregnated in it. When you rub it along a metal oxide coated rail, the light abrasive effect is to gently remove that oxide leaving filthy black marks on the rubber. Do not take sandpaper, emery cloth or anything highly abrasive to the track Use PECO as often as you feel you need to . If the train(s) begin to run slow, stutter or even stop, give it a good rub over with the PECO. If you suspect other problems, and you have a multimeter you can go around the track checking for voltage drops. Where one piece of track slides into the next is a finite source of electrical resistance. If this resistance becomes significantly high, voltage will drop across this joint. I have also used IsoPropyl Alcohol which is an effective cleaning solution that dries without leaving any deposit.Always remember that your track is suceptable to operating conditions.Ambient temperature and moisture in the air effect the track's operation. **Q: can it be used on kato track** A: Sorry but never used Kato track. A few minutes with this rubber and the shine came back to the rails as did the electricity.
