Although complex and time consuming, even an intermediate quilter like me could do these. The book is easy to follow too--Just copy the templates and go to town! If you've never paper pieced before, watch a few YouTube paper piecing tutorials to learn the basic skills involved. There are a few different techniques people use, so it's important to know a little before you start. Believe it not, this was my first attempt at paper piecing--Which tells you that the blocks are not difficult as the look. The only downside is that the CD included is only a tutorial and doesn't have the printable templates. However, since the patters are SO FABULOUS, I couldn't bring myself to remove a star. Don't be intimidated by these--If I can do them, so can you! Review: Great Book for paper piecers - I enjoy the challenge of paper piecing. This book has 12" blocks which are large enough for even the novice to try. One block for each state all are lovely. I put the first one on the back of a sweatshirt jacket, giving it a bit of pizazz. The author suggests having the book rebound so it will work better to scan the patterns. I live in a rural area, so I just use wax paper to trace the patterns.
