I’ve never tried them on my sewing machine but don’t think they would be any good for regular sewing. Great for machine embroidery though. **Q: Can these be used with the brother VR embroidery machine?** A: I'm new to embroidery and bought these to use with my Brother embroidery machine. Not sure about VR, but mine is a Brother and they work very well with this make. The plastic spools have little nicks/spurs and this causes the thread to keep catching and causing it to break, and also the spools are threaded so loosely that the thread falls off the spool wasting all the thread , so it was cheaper to just throw them away and buy from another company. Thats just my experience. **Q: Are these threads EN approved?** A: I don't know the answer to that, but I really like these threads they never snap when embroidering on my machine. I find cheap ones constantly break. Definitely recommended. *by G***N on 27 June 2019* I have now used these a few times, some on fabric scraps as had no project at the time...I was very happy with those BUT have since embroidered designs onto Faux Leather (as per photographs showing front and back of embroidery). I was worried how the thread would work on this kind of fabric but I have to say I am extremely happy with the outcome. I am new to embroidery machines and still trying out various types of stabilisers...initially I tried with a cutaway stabiliser and it chewed the faux leather and at the time I did not know if it was the thread or stabiliser. I then changed to sticky stabiliser (again as shown in photo) and it turned out fabulous. Very, very happy indeed with these brothread threads and I look forward to trying out various colours. Having not used machine embroidery thread before, I was a little worried as thought the thread was so fine that it was sure to break easily or that it was too fine to be used on a machine. I was very impressed as only once did the thread break. The results very excellent and the thread has a nice shine to it. A great range of colours too. I am sure to be ordering this brand again in other colours. Within the box was a free bonus of ten spool nets which was indeed very useful as the only issue I have with these threads was being that they are so fine, they were unravelling...these nets put a stop to that and not only does it stop the messy unravelling but you can still see what colours are there.
