## Description

Documentary focusing on the The Who's first managers Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp. Seeking to make an underground film, aspiring directors Lambert and Stamp sought out a young and upcoming band that reflected the early '60s youth culture to profile their rise to fame. They chose The Who, known at the time as the High Numbers, and quickly abandoned their filming to manage the band despite their inexperience. Through extensive archive footage and interviews with surviving members Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and Stamp, the feature chronicles the band's rise and their key relationship with the two managers until they unceremoniously parted ways a decade later.

Extraordinary film ! The importance of management !

This film documentary is extraordinary beyond words ! The rise and fall of Kit Lambert and Cris Stamp, is similar to The Who s' own quite erratic carrer after their manager s demise. Of course, their long time actual managers Bill Curbisley and Co. did pick up the financial aspect of the band s' affairs, but the creative spark and vision between Townshend and mainly Lambert, was missing. Lambert and Stamp, maybe were not good handling the band s' financial interest, but in terms of creativity and long time vision and planning, they were the best since day one, when they planned not only to film the band, but also, pushing them, mainly Pete Townshend to break new musical and creative territories. Seems to me that The Who s career was planned since day one, until Keith Moon s' and Kit Lambert s' dead. They modeled their image, as a band and individual, allowing each one of them to grow. By doing this, Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, Keith Moon and Pete Townshend had also, solo albums, fims and other activities. Lambert and Stamp, its the first film, not only about them but about the band they made famous and rich: The Who. What a way to tell the story of what really happened behind a great band. The Who, were not only four lads who became famous, they had two more members plus a lot of friends and people with them.

My only criticism is that it is'nt long enough and I would have liked more input from Kit Lambert

Superb. My only criticism is that it is'nt long enough and I would have liked more input from Kit Lambert. It's a shame he was'nt alive to render his version of events. He was a very intelligent almost genius-like character, it's incredible how these two seemingly very different people from utterly different backgrounds came together? Thank God they did, because they truly made the WHO - EXCELLENT.

See how The Who was managed by Stamp and Lambert in the early days. Were they right in what the did with band or were they a pair of c*cks????
