I already own an Echo device, but I wanted music/radio in the bathroom where there is no power socket. For a long time I've struggled with other brands of Alexa enabled portable speakers. I want to be able to just say Alexa play ..... first thing in the morning when going for a shower without going into an app. Then I discovered almost by accident, that this Alexa battery stand does exactly what I need. Just unplug and go, then pop the connector back when finished. It makes the Echo device completely portable. As the Echo has a temperature sensor, I can take it to the greenhouse to ensure the tomatoes are not too hot or even outside in the garden when having a BBQ. It's important to know it works on the house Wi-fi, so can't be taken out of range. Instructions state battery lasts 5 hours although I've not used on just battery power for that long. It's been fine for my needs. When not using the battery, it just sits in the cradle charging with clever technology stopping it from over charging. If your Echo is already set up, then this simply plugs in. I was moments away from buying a different brand speaker when I found this stand. I needed battery support for my bathroom Echo. I did have great expectations but I wasn't surprised at being let down once again. The good points, the connection to Echo is simple, charging port is easy to plug in, it looks neat and works well. However, there is only a 5000mAh battery in the base which lasts max 3 hours, there's enough room in the base for a battery twice that size! It also takes an age to charge. If I put my Echo on the fully charged base in the morning and don't use it all day by the following morning the battery is dead. So standby is about fifteen hours as stated. It could have been so much better. Anyway I've managed to get a charger cable into the bathroom with a 12v extension from Amazon and it now works as I'd hoped.
