We used 4 15kg bags of sand and it’s a good amount, maybe one more would be perfect. Review: Sand pit. - Finally got around to building it, was fairly straight forward. The wood was warped a bit, but went carefully. I trimmed the fabric mat and used a staple gun to secure it retain the sand. I used 2x20kg bags of sand to fill. It looks like half of the sand pit is covered with the seats so there isnt actually much room to play !** A: 60 cms, and with the 18 month infant sat on the seat that is more than adequate - I think two could happily manage, diagonallyopposite each other, but three would be a crowd **Q: Does this sandpit need staining to protect it?** A: It's pure wood, so if you want it to last long, it might need it. We haven't used anything (but only a few months old). My 20 months old daughter loves it. Perfect size for this age. **Q: How much sand will i need?** A: 3/4 bags **Q: Would this be any good as both a sensory (sand gravel etc) tray and a little stage for my girls 3yrs and 5 yrs to peform on. Is the lid strong enough** A: It's quite big - more than a tray.
