Manufactured by HomeSecure, this lock ensures both security and aesthetic appeal, making it a must-have for modern homes. ## Description What to look for and measure 1 = Rail length = this is the total length of the rod from end to end. 2 = The backset = this is the horizontal distance from the face of the lock to the centre line of the handle screw fixing holes. If your window lock mechanism does not look like the image, this will still be suitable. There are several designs to this lock but the important part is the measurement of the length and the back set of the lock. Review: Decent quality lock assembly. - Needed to replace a couple of window locks on 7 year old windows, but didn't bother with warranty as they would have replaced them with the same Chinesium quality locks they originally came with! Old mechanisms were mostly cast Zinc (which break very easily) whereas these are made from pressed steel throughout so should be up to a little more abuse before failing! Fitting was easy (for me as fairly handy) but I did need to remove some plastic from the area where the lock body recessed in to the window assembly in order to make it fit correctly. And some of the fitting screws on the rail were located in different positions, but everything uses self tappers so no problem. I also needed to move the striker plates in the frame as the locking pins were in slightly different positions in the new lock rails, however these were also just self tappers in to the plastic frame so no problem at all. The only thing I will say that if you are replacing these locks in an upstairs window, you will either have to work off a ladder or remove the window from the frame, I chose the latter as I hate heights!!!!!! All in all an easy job if you are handy on the tools, and the initial impression is that these locks are of a decent quality and should last a deal longer than the shoddy quality locks that come with new windows! Make sure you measure well and get the correct Backset measurement for your locks. Review: Measure up first. Quality item - Decent product.
