## Description

Tomb Raider is an Action-Adventure game that introduces players to the origin of one of the most identifiable video games icons of all-time, Lara Croft. The game features a blend of survival, stealth, melee and ranged combat, and exploration gameplay as a young Lara Croft is forced to push herself past her know limits to survive and unravel the dark history of a forgotten island. In the process she will unlock the adventurer within her. Additional game features include: weapons both familiar and new, upgradable items, a variety of play environments, and human and animal enemies. When the first ever Tomb Raider game launched in 1996 it was a revolution. Outstanding in terms of graphics, gameplay, and storyline, it changed the way that video games were played and developed forever. Fronting the games assault on the world was the central character, Lara Croft. Lara was also to have an incredible impact, quickly becoming the most recognized and celebrated female action heroine and an icon for the video games industry. This newest rendition of Tomb Raider explores the intense and gritty origin story of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to the hardened survivor that she would become known as. Armed only with raw instincts and the ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Lara must fight to unravel the dark history of a forgotten island to escape its relentless hold. 1 Xbox Game

Review: Lara Croft Back from the Dead - With this edition you get everything packed in the white survivor tin, on opening it you will see some cover art which is hiding the Lara croft figurine which is a very detailed figurine with props such as the bow and additional hands to change weapons. On removing the figurine you will see the survival edition box which looks awesome with the cover art it has on the front. Within the box you will find a survival pouch which could be used store whatever you see fit which also comes with a neck lead which can be attached or removed as required. A Map of the Island is provided though its a shame its in black and white and not in colour,it also gives brief descriptions of the island which you will get to know as you play the game. On the other side of the map you get a poster of Lara. You will also the find the art book in here which is a hardback which includes art work of scenes, places and people from the game. You will find the copy of the game here as well(includes the Hitman weapons pack for the game and the download code for the music) which is in the standard PS3 case with the standard art cover as the standard edition. The shanty town code will be sent by desertcart. I found the game to be thrilling and on your first play through you will really get emotionally attached with the story and Lara and everything that happens to her and around her. you could class this game as an action/adventure/thriller/horror as it is an intense experience. The game play is good there is a good balance between fighting enemy's, button bashing ad cinematic's which doesn't lose the flow of the story and game, though I did expect more puzzles than I found in the game. There are various weapons; Bow, Pick Axe, Shotgun, Rifle and Pistol which can be upgraded but you do have to find pieces and salvage in order to upgrade. People have complained that there are too many enemy's (you should play on easy then) and personally playing on Normal difficulty it was challenging when there was an area of large amount of enemy's but it would be no fun if it was totally easy. The graphics, sound and details are amazing during game play and cinematic's and I personally feel is faultless. People who have given the game of 1-2 stars I feel are people in their 40's who don't like change and fell in love with a trans-gender looking Lara in the 90's who basically went down hill after Tomb raider 2 and basically died. The new resurrected Lara is absolutely beautiful in body and mind and is a great reboot to start a potential successful Tomb Raider series. This game is alot of fun with a good story and plenty of game play, worth the purchase and you wont regret your decision.
Review: What's not to love? - Well I love this game so much I just had to write a review and I don't normally do these but the reasons below are why I gave this product 5 stars. DELIVERY I used the 'next day delivery' option and heaven behold it was on my doorstep the next morning, very fast considering I ordered it the night before at around 6pm. As well as arriving quickly the packaging was very snug and secure, game was sealed and I was proud with how quick desertcart preformed their delivery service. Very proud to be a customer! GRAPHICS Ok having played all the Tomb Raider games, I can safely say I am a big fan. I remember and I'm sure all you do the days of the blocky body parts, points and edges in places they shouldn't be. But back then it revolutionized gaming, it defined it. Since then the definition has been edited. The evolution of our technology is evident in every new Tomb Raider game. This one however completely took me away. The graphics are beautiful. Brilliant on a full 1080p TV although I'm sure they'll look good on any screen. Lara is as realistic as can be, she's gorgeous. The animations are very stunning and overall the game just grabs you and pulls you inside the experience and adventure. I did feel as if I was there. STORY Ok, I have only played about 10 hours of this so far and haven't completed it, there's just so much to do! Which is good because again remember those old Tomb Raider days when the game was so linear? You get in a tomb, complete it and that was it. With this there are so many tasks for you to do. Including hunting, learning survival techniques, killing and oh we can't forget raiding! I don't want to ruin the story line too much but basically Lara is ship wrecked on an island with some friends and using her natural instincts must fight to survive. And Crystal Dynamics didn't filter out gore with this game, oh no! There's blood, there's pain and screaming. Something the other games in the series lacked and it took away a lot of feelings which in this game are present. I felt her pain when she fell off ledges (not physically obviously). I can promise you that you'll be gripped into this game. There's a lot of weapons too! Including a bow, pistols (clearly, it is Tomb Raider for crying out loud!), shot guns, rifles and more. All of which can be upgraded. OVERALL I think this game is amazing and for the price definitely a bargain! Seriously you're missing out if you haven't got it, so pay up and go and raid some tombs! You won't regret it. This game has had me glued to my screen for so long I suppose the only disadvantages I have from it are a headache and cramps. But with what Lara goes through I can't complain.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not a tomb raider game but a great game nonetheless
*by S***S on 14 March 2013*

I admit I am a loyal and dedicated fan. I own and have completed every game that has been released for the playstation. Over the years the games have frustrated and amazed me in roughly equal amounts. Unfortunately, some of them were so difficult I couldn't have finished without looking on the internet or asking other people for advice (try shooting the bell). Others I have finished myself (and this is one of them). I've been lost, confused and seen Lara suffer thousands of gruesome deaths (though none more gruesome than this game). However this is the first time Lara has not been sexy. She spends most of her time covered in mud or blood and looks more like a zombie than a hollywood actress. And I am not just talking about the ever reducing cup measurements, she isn't even pretty here. What a disappointment. As you would expect with a big budget game, a lot of the money is on the screen for you to look at and is not necessarily reflected in better gameplay. Having said that, Lara's movement is smooth and intuitive, although as in other games before it, you seem to accidentally light flares every now and then. I found myself missing some of the daft but brilliant things Lara used to do, like swimming, scuba-diving, backflips, handstands and swan dives. Then there are the signature pistols. Without them, taking on 20 heavily armed assailants when all you have is a bow and arrow and a few shotgun rounds can seem a bit unfair and a little daunting at times. As in earlier games, sometimes when you feel like you are finally getting tooled up, you get captured and end up with no weapons again. In the end, though, the gameplay is stressful but very addictive and I could not stop playing it. Although climbing and jumping somehow lacks the risk and heart-pounding excitement of the earlier games, overall I think this is the best control I have ever had over Lara. I think that all started to improve when Crystal Dynamics got involved and they have taken it even further in this game. The environments look the most detailed and photorealistic they have ever been, making the PS3 feel like a brand new console. Huge respect to the programmers, who seem to squeeze more and more out of an old console! Unfortunately the atmosphere is uniformly dark, cold, windy and wet. Gone are the beautiful locations of the earlier games, that made you feel like you were on holiday just by playing them, locations that you wanted to go off and explore. I loved the wrecked ships and downed planes, though. They looked amazing. Here, there isn't much time to relax and the game is more like a b-movie script with gameplay in between. The video sequences in between are not very well acted and make the people look like puppets in Thunderbirds. This is a bit of a disappointment too, when most other games use motion capture and either real actors or top-notch voice talent. Every time a new Tomb Raider game gets released, I hope that they will produce a truly open environment along the lines of Grand Theft Auto III, where you can go anywhere you want. If anything, these environments are more restricted than some of the earlier games and it feels more like level after level. The exploration has largely disappeared, as has the puzzle solving. The latter I didn't miss that much, as sometimes dragging boxes, pulling levers, flicking switches and putting cogs back into machines can get a bit old. I did miss how environments would change in earlier games, usually by a change in water level or some natural disaster. I just don't get the artefact collection here. Whereas before the artefacts pulled the story along, here they are meaningless. Surely Lara should be more like Dr Alice Roberts, intelligent and interested in these things. Here she is more like a special ops soldier. Am I supposed to believe that going through this experience, where most of her friends die and it would take you an hour to climb up the pile of dead bodies that Lara produces, motivates her to be an archaeologist? In the end I think the team were brave to try something new and they have produced a great game, which will appeal to people who have never played any of the Tomb Raider games. However, for those of us that have played them, although this is heading in the right direction, it falls a little short of a five star experience. I hope it is successful enough for them to keep going and create another one!
