But, all of the lead is black, there is no colored lead. It comes off nicely on paper. You can easily read it and erase it with a good eraser. Not sure if this is what you were asking....but, I tried!! **Q: are these refillable** A: Yes. They are refillable if you can find the right sized lead. I have not looked so I can’t say if it’s easy to find or not. **Q: What is the thickest lead available?** A: 1.3 lead is very sturdy, try that 🙂 **Q: Does the pencil have metal parts inside? Need it for use in water** A: Hmmmmm - I doubt these could/should be used in water. Seems to be plastic, but there is likely a spring mechanism inside.
