He absolutely loves it and has played it for ages every day and sounds quite good, given that he's only been learning for a year at school and, until now, has never practised! The sound quality is fine, it is extremely loud, and he likes all the twiddly bits which you wouldn't get with a real drum kit, like the clicking metronome and the music to drum along to, and the other percussion noises which you can set to each pad. I like the compactness ( it fits on a dining room chair quite securely), I like the sound it makes and I like the fact he will be able to get headphones ( haven't bought any yet, as I need an adaptor to fit the socket) to ensure he doesn't annoy the neighbours. Not cheap but I think very good value for money and seems robust and well made. He is very sensory driven. Of late he has walked about beating a drum beat on any surface he can find. So for his Lockdown 6th Birthday I got these drums and they worked a dream. No more banging on my lounge mirror or walls and doors. Sometimes he uses the sticks and other times his hands. There are so many sounds to play with and he will grow into everything else it does. I decided on this type because it’s a space saver, can travel with us, he can even wear headphones and beat till the cows come home and I don’t have to hear. Also this is a sturdy looking kit and he can be heavy handed. He loves the sounds and puts his ear close sometimes to listen. We have used it for activities during lockdown.
