You just follow the prompts as the system talks you through it. The four cameras that came with the system are already linked. I bought four more and adding them is easy. Just plug them in and have them within a meter of the system. Go to the camera setup dialog and click the add button. It will take about a minute and then says "Connection Successful". Then you can go back to the screen showing the view and it will appear. From there you can mount it where you want. Deciding where you want to mount the cameras and putting them in place is the most time consuming part. Obviously you need to have a power source nearby. The cord for the power supply about 10-feet long. You can purchase extension cables and splitters to be able to use the same power supply for more than one camera. Those supplies are very inexpensive. There are a few camera options that can only be done through the downloadable app. One that was very important to me was inverting the image. The way I wanted to mount the camera made the image upside down.
