Amazing quality for the price, with some stipulations. The focal length is ultra wide angle, 6.0 mm, aperture is large, f/2.8, and ISO is recorded in Photoshop CS6 at 24. I took a number of still images with it outside and indoors including some close-ups of flowers with a bee on them. I would say the minimum focal distance is around 16 inches and the close-ups turned out sharp at that distance. I purposely moved the camera when taking pictures to see how it would handle that as I hope to use it on a small helicopter for aerial photography. I am an amateur photographer and have used DSLR's for several years, and I am basing my evaluation of image quality on that. In PS the "shutter speeds" were reported as from 1/30s to 1/4000s so it seems to be using an aperture priority mode with a wide range capability in shutter speed. I saw virtually no camera motion blur outside in bright sunlight even though I was purposely trying to create it. The camera offers the option of a repetitive 2-second time-lapse mode also, and I tried this while moving the camera to simulate use on the quad-copter to make jpg stills rather than video. Images came out looking very good. The images far exceeded my expectations in terms of resolution (decent at 100% crop) for a camera at this price and 2590 X 1946 (5MP) resolution, but I think a means of post-processing is necessary; namely, adjustment of exposure/levels, vibrance/saturation, contrast, clarity/sharpness, and so on, such as are available in Photoshop and similar post-processing software. After these adjustments, the images are quite good and suitable to post on the internet, but without adjustment they are largely marginal, at best. At a minimum, levels/exposure adjustment software is needed. Many programs and print services offer an "auto adjustment" choice which should work fine.I also shot some video in high resolution, looked at the AVI file, and it was much better than I would have expected in spite of the fact that I was moving the camera around quite quickly to simulate it moving on the helicopter. Again, post processing for the above parameters is going to be a big plus to optimize the video output. This is now available on Photoshop CS6 for the first time, but there are many other video editing programs out there. As previously reported, the camera alone weighs a mere 45 grams, and gram-for-gram, I think it would be hard to beat in terms of range and image quality and camera size. You could easily carry this in your hand and take candid street shots without anyone but you knowing it; something I plan to do.Adding the optional "Action Shot Video Viewer" allows its use not only to review shots stored on the SD card, but also to frame photos and videos as they are being recorded. Without the Viewer, the framing has to be done by guess. With it, the user has control over the composition much like with a digital compact camera operating in aperture priority mode (f/2.8 in this case). The Viewer adds another 26 gm when attached. The case, used for mounting the camera on a helmet, weighs 21 gm and would afford some protection for the camera if dropped although they also offer "high impact" cases. It does not accommodate the Viewer. The waterproof enclosure, a thicker version of the mounting case with a clear acrylic window, weighs 60 gm. I may try come underwater shots at some point; my dentist has a tropical fish tank and sometimes makes me wait a long time :)I think this combination of gear will allow capturing many images that would transcend the limits of perspective achievable with a DSLR or digital compact; a hypothesis I am about to begin testing.===========================================August 23 update - took it to the supermarket today to take some stealth pics. Dropped it on the floor in the plastic mounting case that comes with it and it wouldn't power back up. But I stuck the end of a paperclip in the "reset" hole, and it powered up again and is working flawlessly. (You need to have a very steady hold in low light like in a supermarket, but I got some nice pictures handheld nonetheless.)

    Impressed.

This camera is GREAT for kids and the price. Do not try to compare it to a name brand action camera that cost 10X as much. It is a cheap camera with surprisingly good HD video quality. Sound quality is lacking, but other then that its a great camera for kids as well as adults. The Field of view is a bit narrow and doesn't give the same wide angle "realistic" effect the GO pro does, but again its NOT a go pro. I had set my expectations for this pretty low and was surprised how much we liked it. I do recommend the high impact case the stock case is brittle and cheap. To sum it up, this thing got strapped to a basketball hoop, hockey net, balance beam and go kart. It was hit multiple time, knocked off, fell to the ground and kicked and it is still working just fine. Try it out and save some cash.

this item is awesome being able to change quality is cool wish the picture mode was more stable just a little movement makes pictures fuzzy. the video is awesome just tested it with some skateboarding and a hike up the mount hood trail. the video was good stable but the 2g sd chip you get with it doesnt hold very much im ordering a bigger memory stick because i take lots of video. the 2 mounts it comes with are great but thats also because im a action sport junkie and do many different sports but wish it would have come with the bike mount instead of the board/helmet mount. the head band mount is amazing although you have to adjust it because it aims in the air. its really easy to connect to youre computer self installs on it too. i also ordered the action shot camera veiwer when i get that in i will be doing a review on that too.
