## Description

The Protimeter Mini is a precision, digital moisture meter, designed for a wide range of general purpose moisture detection applications. Compact and easy to use, this robust instrument has built-in pin probes and is ideally suited for making quick assessments of the moisture condition on construction sites, for a range of building materials, including timber, masonry, drywall, plaster, concrete, etc. The Protimeter Mini is also widely used for quality control applications, such as monitoring wood products during manufacture and for storage environments. The instrument's measuring pins are small with a fine point, which means measurements can be taken at the surface leaving virtually no mark. The Protimeter Mini has a simple, yet effective, colour-coded display, enabling the user to assess the moisture level at a glance, green (dry), yellow (borderline), red (wet). The numerical values on the display represent the actual percentage moisture content of wood (% MC) and the wood moisture equivalent (WME) of concrete, drywall and other materials. When taking moisture readings in awkward positions, the Mini can be used with the moisture probe extension lead (supplied with the instrument), which simply connects into the socket on the side of the instrument. Also included is a pouch (with belt loop), a calibration check device, allowing the user to check that the instrument is correctly calibrated, a spare set of pins and a battery. Review: Fantastic product - I purchased a cheap damp meter (£20) for keeping an eye on my caravan. It was quite bulky in the hand and the prongs were quite fat leaving noticeable holes in the caravan walls. Also getting quite significantly different readings to my caravan service guy. He uses a protimeter and has owned it for the last 10 years. He showed me how easy it was to use with the light display on the front. Green good, orange keep an eye on, red is a problem sort straight away. There's also the handheld prongs on a wire for the places you can't get with the main device. Or you could do all readings with that and have the device handy facing you to read them with ease. Comes with a calibration strip. So you can check that the machine is working how it should be and spare prongs. Love the ease of the use of the machine. Love how thin the prongs are. Leaving a far less noticeable mark than the cheap machine I previously bought. Handy case to keep it all together. Highly recommend 12 months is a long time between caravan services. Should damp get in better to pick up on it and sort it earlier.

**Q: What is the exact model/part number of this Protimeter?**
A: The unit we purchased is Protimeter Mini - General Purpose Moisture Meter, I arrange a damp investigation and remedial works training session for my team and this has proved to be a very good first test device which either informs that it is not dampness, or to make further tests.All in all a very good bit of kit to have in the tool box.

**Q: is this for use on concrete floors**
A: Hello, the meter shows the actual percent moisture content of wood (in % MC) and uses this scale to calculate the level of moisture in concrete, dry wall and other building materials as a wood moisture equivalent (WME). **Q: Is this ok for home surveys to check walls (concrete)?**
A: This is ideal for carrying out basic surveys of wood and other building materials that are not contaminated with salts or nitrates. If you want to test concrete we would not recommend this as Relative Humidity (RH) would be the preferred method or a calcium carbide test.

A good sensible buy, a little expensive but a very useful meter that can save you a lot of money in the longer term. This is the same product used by the company that does the motorhome and caravan annual habitation checks. It uses a 9v battery and also comes with a lead to make it easier to check hard to reach places such as rear walls above cupboards etc. One note though - to get a proper and accurate reading you are required to push the two SHARP prongs into the wall boards. Too much force or repeated use will leave you with very small pin head holes doted about. Unfortunately, the sharp probes are required to get an exact and accurate reading.
