If not where can I get one?** A: This product is the replacement thermal core only, it doesn't come with a cover. However, there are many other product listing on Amazon that do come with a cover, just search for "Hotties". The lambswool cover is particularly popular. **Q: Can anyone tell me please, how long do these stay warm?** A: I have 4 of these and they hold their warmth for several hours depending on how long you heat them for and your natural body warmth. The max time you heat them depends on the wattage of your microwave (i.e., 800w) and you should never heat them for longer than the stated instructions or they can split making them useless. I usually heat mine for a max 2 min 30 seconds but recommend new users to start in 30 second increments and then check the temp of the hottie each time to make sure it isn't too hot for comfort or go over the recommended heat up time which can be easy to do if you are not sure of the wattage of your microwave. You can buy these with or without covers - the back wrap cover is quilted material and helps retain heat - if you use them sitting down with back against a cushion, the heat will also stay warm for longer. I rotate my 4 during the day with a back wrap so that as one starts to cool, the fresh (cold) replaces the worn one. As they still retain a little body warmth when warm, this prevents overheating by re-microwaving and potentially splitting the 'used' one. I started out with two which lasted for years, only split one after inadvertently overheating it and added to them over time so I always have a spare! **Q: Has anybody had the hottie explode did it for 2minutes?** A: Yes. I had been using it occasionally for about a year. It recently exploded but I may have overheated it (it was already slightly warm). Also, I didn't see the pack puffing up in the microwave or I would have switched it off. Luckily it's mostly damp cloth inside, not just liquid. Purchasing a replacement core pack now. **Q: can the pack be frozen and used as a cold pain relief pack ?** A: To my astonishment, when one of our hotties burst, I opened it up and found it to consist of layers of absorbent tissue paper saturated with water. as water is a good heat store and paper a good suspension medium, I in no way denigrate the manufacturers and in fact, congratulate them for their ingenuity. The common sense answer to the question is that if they (hotties) can conserve heat, (as in the old fashioned hot water bottle), they can conserve cold ( like ice cream in a broad necked thermos) Putting your hottie into a freezer may seem a bit drastic, but worth a try, as although water expands when frozen - hence burst pipes during a freeze up, this is very unlikely to cause the hottie to burst. Personally speaking, I would give it a try.
