Dimethicone is in the silicone family. That said, I use this on my long hair at the advisement of my hair restoration salon and don't notice build up, greasiness, etc. **Q: Is this the legitimate product???** A: Yes. I use it on my hair both wet before I dry it and sometimes after I dry it. It helps with frizzes (I have straight hair) and adds shine. I swim a lot so my hair gets dry.
