It seems to have a little bit of padding which makes me feel like my gear is protected from the elements of travel. The medium bag perfectly held my full set of gear plus carrying bag for shore excursions. I really, really wanted this bag to be as great as it looks while sitting at my front door waiting to go on my next trip. But, it didn't hold up at all. When I made it to my destination (included one baggage transfer in my 3 flights), the bag was already coming apart at the stitching by the handle. While the bag did make it back home, I am returning it because I have two more trips coming up and need a bag that is sturdy and reliable.
