Please make sure your door is not made from high boron glass if you want it to work when you are outside the door. **Q: What switch should I get??** A: These lights are automatic, so they don't need any switch. They mount directly to the electrical box, (usually ceiling) and are hard wired in. They are very sensitive and mine seems to stay ON for about 2 mins before it shuts off. If you don't like the automatic feature, I guess you could still use it with a wall controlled switch. AND turn it off or on at the wall, but that kind of defeats the automatic feature purpose. If you still want a wall control, switch, Any regular standard 120 V ac single throw light switch would work, but you would need to run wires to the light box. I originally bought one for the under stair pantry since I had power on the adjacent wall. All I needed was a 3 1/2” round old work box some romex and this light. It’s worked flawlessly for the last 6 months. Open the door. It comes on. Close the door after 30 seconds it shuts off. So now I added a closet in a downstairs bedroom and it’s needed a light. So I ordered a second one and it couldn’t be anymore perfect. Plus you can select the temperature/color you want. No added wiring for a switch.
