It does not. It makes muffled jingle sounds, but it is not constructed like a musical instrument. It’s constructed like a pretty rainbow that looks like an instrument. But it was colorful and my Sun Conure liked walking and chewing on it. It lasted 1 1/2 months before he chewed it up completely. I would caution you not to expect your bird to become a musician. (I was rather disappointed that Mango didn’t play a tune, or make any sounds on it) A more realistic goal would be if your bird likes it enough to chew it to pieces.
