## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the difference between an ebow and an ebow plus?**
A: I bought it as a present but as far as I understand the Ebow has a greater response (but can be a bit hard to tame so needs more practice) and the Ebow plus has an additional switch so more controllable, but less fun.

**Q: Hi can an ebow be used on an electro acoustic guitar?**
A: Yes, though the effect varies depending on what pickup setup you have. For example it generally works fine with a standard bridge pickup, but a piezo pickup in the saddle or anything installed inside the body will have issues. I've used it occasionally with an acoustic that I installed a piezo in, and while it does pick up the vibrations and still produces a tone, you have less control over the note. The piezo, and I assume as well a pickup installed within the body, take longer to pick up the vibration so you aren't able to get the immediate feedback and control that you can with a pickup directly beneath the strings. This is most likely a pickup-related issue as well, but I've noticed a more limited range on acoustics compared to electrics. The further up the fretboard you travel, regardless of string, the more difficult it is to produce a note.TL;DR They work fine but occasionally with a more limited range, and are dependant upon what kind of pickups you have. Still would recommend.

**Q: can i use this a unit for a bass guitar, ive seen a guy do this and wow! it sounds great what are the advantages of this electronic ebow over an ordina**
A: You can definitely use these on basses, I have occasionally on my own bass as well as on guitar. The advantages are the size and compact nature of it. It's very very easy to learn to use on guitars and other string instruments, and you can have a lot of fun working out where the harmonics are on strings in different positions. They are also much more useful than bows, as the radius of a guitar neck and the body width don't allow you to bow anything more than the top or bottom strings individually, or all 6 in unison. There is someone who has worked around this by redesigning a classical instrument, the viol, into a guitarviol. It has a much smaller radius, making it possible to play like a cello, however they are custom built to order, so the price isn't exactly cheap. The only real disadvantages I've found using this, is that you cannot "bow" two strings at once, and that it's battery dependent. Batteries last an extremely long time in this, so it's not much of an issue, but it does mean that you will have to keep buying for it. If you want two very good reasons to buy one of these, I suggest you check out Acoustic Labs, and Jesús Rico. Both are on youtube, their music will do more than enough to convince you that this is worth your time.
