(properly) or does it move loosely ?** A: It is not a tight fit but sits on the pan itself and is held secure by its weight. It would not be possible to have a tight seal as both pieces are manufactured from glass. The lid does not lift when simmering, only if the contents are subjected to heavy boiling. We have used glass saucepans etc for +35 years and have found them to be superior to metal pans as, if kept properly, they do not stain, and they keep their non-stick properties if not subjected to over-heating.
