Normally whipping cream is the only dairy I use ( a bit in my coffee), but good ice cream needs quite a bit of fat to have good texture and remain scoopable after storing in freezer. I've tried frozen dessert recipes w/o dairy, but they require additives I'd rather not use and get hard as a brick. So I stick with the real thing, have a 1/2 cup serving from time to time, and enjoy every bite!
