A 600 grit stone is normally a third stone before a 1000 and then 4000/6000 polish. However this 600 is way more effective than a 600 grit wetstone so the results are immediate and significant. All I can say is that they work a lot quicker than wetstones so take it easy with new or already sharp knives. Burr creation is profound so very easy to tell when youve apexed.
