I actually ordered both the Superstructs and the Tinkertoys. Although I really like wooden toys and would prefer them most of the time over plastic, I ended up taking back the Tinkertoys instead of these.I was surprised at the diameter of the rods and holes. Some websites said these were interchangeable with Tinkertoys and I thought that meant they were about a pencil size in diameter, but they are about double that instead, as are the new Tinkertoys.My 2 year old loves to build and play like this but the rods are very difficult for her to firmly put in the holes. This is unfortunate but she will figure it out in time.This is a classic toy that teaches so much about problem solving, creativity, how to follow directions, even just depth perception for young kids, etc!My only real complaint is that these are made in China. I had to call the company to find out. Looking to buy some for her, we were dismayed to find that TinkerToys only seem to come is small sets. We could not locate a large set which provided a range of different things that could be constructed. Web investigation revealed that the original TinkerToy name has gone through several different companies and that another company also makes Tinker Toys (two words rather than one). Fortunately, web reviews indicated that Superstructs do the same job and are superior to other offerings of "tinker toys". Our experience had confirmed that the Superstructs provide the old time tinker toy experience and are a durable and well constructed product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My kids love these *by M***4 on Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2013* We bought these after being disappointed buying the "new fangled" tinker toys (wooden). They weren't inexpensive at all and were very poorly made - pieces just did not fit properly and anything you made often sagged the wrong way. So, I thought I'd try these out because I remember loving "tinker toys" as a child and these are exactly the same. These are wonderful - well made and we still have them after a few years - the kids still love to make them. If they are too rough, they can break a piece - but it takes a lot.
