Yesterday evening I was washing dishes and looked at my knifes block and realised how incredibly handy it is. We cook a lot in my house, so having our knifes handy, but safe - never had a knife slip, the magnets are strong and also doesnt dull the knife - is so important to us. We have moved to a smaller flat and its super convenient to have it on the counter and free up drawer space. Its just the right size for the most often used knifes (we keep microplane, chefs knife, pairing knife, santoku and cleaver and it all fits on this board) it looks also very nice and because construction is simple it doesn't require much cleaning or care.
