One time a few months ago I tried to cook a piece of toast and I pushed the lever down but it did not lock in place. I fiddled with the dial to increase the darkness of the toast setting and it worked. It worked for months and now months later it is doing the same thing. It won't stay down. I have to hold it down in order to toast. It is now February of 2026 so it only lasted a little over a year. I'm pretty disappointed but it's not like I'm out a lot of money. I am disappointed though but other than that I really like this toaster. I recommend it for somebody who wants something small. I did end up reordering it. UPDATE 3/2026 I ordered a new one of these but then my old one started working again. It dawned on me that maybe there isn't enough weight in the toaster because I cut my slice of bread in half when I toast it to lower the calories. I should have mentioned in my review that this toaster does cook a little unevenly but all I do I put it on for very small amount of time on a very low setting. It pops up then I turn the piece to toast around in a different direction so that it will toast more evenly.
