Hope this was helpful :) **Q: Would this be good for voice over?** A: Hi Luke, In many ways the NT1-A is the ideal mic for studio narration where you can control the conditions i.e. by dampening the acoustics with curtains, screens, cushions etc. A useful test to check the dampening is to clap your hands and listen. In most cases, for narration the ambience needs to be reasonably flat. You will find the 'pop' screen supplied with the mic to be an asset. If you need further 'anti-popping' get hold of a foam wind gag. Another tip, when recording a male voice, you may need to 'lighten' it by introducing bass cut, if you have that facility on your recorder. If not use the (free download)Audacity program and go to 'Effects' where you can select and experiment with a degree of Bass cut. Without it, some studio mics can sound a bit 'woofy' although I've found the Rode to offer quite a nice bright sound without too much bass cut. In addition to it's USB and XLR versatility, not much is needed to make it sound great! Most microphones at higher price brackets are known to have their weaknesses, typically being a weak high-end which makes the sound muddy, but thanks to the frequency response, you only need to tame the 5th editions' by a couple of decibels to flatten the sound for greater accuracy...While the SM6 shock mount that came with could be better (mine's pop-filter was built slightly off-axis, which makes tilting a little difficult), the amount of kit you are getting with the price is a no-brainer; All that's left is a stand, which is easy to come by...Especially if you're starting off, the RODE NT1 5th Generation is by far the most reliable condenser you can get your hands on, coming from someone who isn't a professional by any means but who is inspired to get into media creation... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Essential for voice work *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 25 July 2026* I struggles for months with my old mic as it just wasn't that good so I took the plunge, the mic requires phantom power if you are wanting to use a Audio interface.Easy to mount on a stand, it has a bit of weight but this is a good thing it shows quality, the quality of the audio is sharp and sometimes find myself having to use a compressor to soften the audio.
