Review: just what I needed! - As a busy mum to 3 children ( one child whom has Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder), I was struggling to fit in time making my own Pecs as I have done so previously using my laptop and pushing my half knackered laminator to the limit!- which took many many hours during the evenings . I came across these wonderful products they are exactly what I needed . I ordered quite a few Picture Exchange Communication Aids from -Autism Supplies and Developments- , the delivery was very quick and they were delivered in perfect condition. I am very impressed with the boards and cards They are clear, high quality Picture Communication Symbol images. The Laminate completed surrounds every card and board, sealing the paper within . You can see a.lot of care has been put into these made to order products as the corners have been cut rounded by hand, to reduce the chance of scratches/ being poked in the eye .I am pleased that the boards and symbols all came with good quality sticky backed Velcro, pre applied so we were able to use them immediately. The cost of each product was extremely good considering the amount of time each piece takes to make. I would highly recommend to anyone who has children whom have Autism/ special needs.as PECs help decrease negative behaviors that were caused by frustrations; Increase availability for learning and interaction; Increase relatedness and emotional closeness; Build spoken language skills . I will most definitely be ordering again from Autism supplies and development

**Q: Why do you use symbols not photos? Don't photos work better?**
A: Using symbols instead of photos means the concept is generalised. A photo of a dinner means that particular dinner. Not a different meal. A dinner symbol ensures consistency.

**Q: What makes your visual supports much more durable?**
A: Our visual are made from non-toxic plastic. The images are printed directly onto the plastic, so they can't split like laminated card, & are waterproof. They won't rip or crease like cardstock, yet they are lightweight and semi-flexible for safety.

**Q: What size are the board and symbols? Why are they this size?**
A: The board is 32cm x 11cm & the symbols are 4.5cm. Board is great to either display or to carry around with you. After much testing, the symbols have been designed to be perfectly sized for young hands to hold, yet large enough to easily see.

**Q: How many symbols come with the board?**
A: The board comes with 12 common evening activity symbols, chosen in consultation with our customers. Because it uses hook and loop fasteners though, it is compatible with your existing PECs symbol library.

**Q: Can this be customised?**
A: Unfortunately not, because the plastic printing process means symbols need to be mass produced. However, it comes with 12 pre-printed symbols that have been chosen in consultation with our customers, and symbol expansion packs are available.

Great product, really good quality plastic cards, nice size for small hands, my son has taken really well to them. They are well laid out and obviously designed by someone who understands Autism. I will definitely be buying more from this company, they are extremely helpful with all enquiries too.

Great for my 6 year old with autism, however different cards could be provided or a way to purchase these as some of his routine is not on the picture cards. He was able to understand the visual cues with next to no explanation.
