Review: Great keyboard for typing on lap, could be a bit wider for typing comfort - I love this keyboard. I had been using a laptop but I wanted to switch to a mini-format pc which I would remotely locate. The mini-PC is about 10 feet away and I thought I could use a wireless keyboard but that proved to be a solution which was not reliable (missed key strokes primarily). I needed to extend the USB cord for my case but I was easily able to find a USB to USB cable extender on desertcart. Initially I was looking for a keyboard with a traditional format and couldn't really find a backlit keyboard with that format which also had a touch-pad. I finally "settled" on this design but in retrospect this is a better design if you will literally use it on your lap while typing. I was as well initially disappointed that the backlit is always on but it is nice that you don't need to constantly activate the lighting if you stop typing for a few seconds. The things I wish were a little different: - I wish it was slightly wider, the feel is a little compressed while typing - I wish it had dedicated page-down and page-up keys - I think it would be nice if the Fn key priority was reversed for the Fn keys. I use the volume a lot and that's the main reason. - There is a tiny piece of something loose (broken?) inside the keyboard. I can hear it if I pick it up and tilt it side to side but whatever it hasn't created any detectable functional issue. In general it's very nice and I'm glad it was available because it seems there almost nothing else in this market to compare it to.
Review: It's a good, USB wired, backlit laptop keyboard (but thick) - This is a very good keyboard but it has room for improvement in my opinion. The biggest downside is no dedicated editing (Home/End/PgUp/PgDn) keys. This is essentially laid out correctly and exactly like a typical laptop keyboard, which is mostly a great thing. I have used lots of keyboards over the years and here's how this one lines up with my preferences: * The Ctrl/Fn/Start/Alt keys are in the correct (same) location and order as on most laptops I've used. * The keys are normal laptop size, perfectly flat, and matte black. I prefer them to be slightly concave with a bit more of a nub on the F and J keys. If they were a bit more glossy, they wouldn't show fingerprints as much or so quickly. * The backlight has 3 brightness levels and can be turned off. They use 3 separate Fn combos to control it. * The touchpad (recessed) works well and is tiny by 2025 standards but I'm ok with that. A larger one would make for a larger footprint. * The size is perfect for a compact keyboard with a touchpad although it is surprisingly thicker (1.25") than an entire closed laptop. It's acceptable for my use case but I wish they could have made it thinner. * It is angled and has flip feet for a steeper slope. There are rubber pads that work for both angles. * The location of the 2 USB A ports (lower left side) is not really ideal. I would probably put them on the top facing away but this location is probably better for plugging in flash drives although the USB 2.0 will limit their transfer speed. Squeezing in a pod of the Insert/Home/PgUp/Del/End/PgDn keys in the top right corner would be great. Alternatively, putting them along the right side like some laptops or adding PgUp and PgDn keys above the left/right arrows would be a moderate improvement. I've often wondered why nobody has basically taken a laptop keyboard and built an enclosure for it, especially when older laptops had ones that could be popped out semi-easily. If you're looking to save 10 dollars, you can get the Periboard-525 which is the same keyboard without backlighting.

I love this keyboard. I had been using a laptop but I wanted to switch to a mini-format pc which I would remotely locate.
