The remote is a radio remote so you don't have to be in line of sight of the receiver and don't have to deal with the stupid IR receiver pointing at the ground or some other useless place (A friend has a controller with that design flaw, not this one). The patterns are nice and you can control the speed and brightness of each one which adds a lot of flexibility. No for the downsides. This thing has probably 200 different lighting modes, of that I would have to say only 30 of them are worth viewing. A lot of them are just one color dot going down the strip which is a different color. Not that great to look at. For the price though I am lucky if that is the biggest complaint I have. Pros Inexpensive RF remote Has some good lighting effects Cons Most of the lighting effects are worth the memory there stored in.
