Both insertion and removal of the probe was easy. It wasn't too difficult to remove the sample from the probe, but it wasn't just a simple tap of the probe either. Getting the dirt out of the upper end was a bit more difficult. The probe could use a hole at the top to insert a rod to remove soil stuck in the upper part of the probe. I liked that the company provides a cap for the end of the probe for safety as well as the two ends of the handle.
