Review: Delicious to the hardcore consumer; unbearable to the rest. - So wow, this is delicious. On a scale of one to ten, this is a go. Took me about 3 meals to get used to it. Mixed with fridge-cooled water to a thick consistency and with absolutely nothing else added, I find it to be delicious. Mixed too thin or in addition to other ingredients (eg cocoa, oil, eggs, cinnamon, fruit, peanut butter) and it becomes unpleasant or even unbearably disgusting to me. The very first time I tried it, I treated it like my previous batch of chocolate flavour whey protein (choc full of soy) and attempted a pea protein chocolate mug cake which turned out so revolting that it almost made me throw up, and I am not a soft-hearted eater. I became deeply sad at that point and started to question my life choices like the other reviewer. But I immediately learned my lesson and stopped treating it like something that can become a dessert. It's never going to be some sweet milkshake or an ice cream Sunday treat (or sundae? You decide.) The trick is to keep it simple, cold and thick. To my palate, the thicker the consistency, the more pleasant the texture. If I am still in existence after this bag runs out, I will re-up with 5 more kis, unless someone decides to produce a soy-free whey protein which they won't. Everything on here is strictly my opinion. If you buy it, you are very likely to find it disgusting and want to throw out the entire bag after first use. The other reviewers are very accurate about this but I still have to five-star it as I now look forward to having it each day.
Review: Brilliant when used in the right way - I see a lot of negative reviews for this product which are very unfair. Yes, this powder tastes horrible when mixed with just water (or as one reviewer tried, coffee?). Complaining about this is like buying turmeric and complaining that it makes your strawberry milkshake taste weird. It is unflavoured protein that has been extracted from peas, it tastes exactly like it sounds. When you start using it as an ingredient in other things, however, it is much much better. I have found this protein powder to be very well suited to things that other powders are not. For instance, whey protein congeals into disgusting lumps when mixed into any hot liquid, but pea protein does not. I like to mix it into spicy soups, which the savoury pea flavour works very well with. If you want to use it in shakes, you definitely need to add sweetness (unless you want a savoury shake?). My current protein shake recipe is to blend a scoop of this powder with milk, frozen berries, an egg and a pinch of sucralose (bulk powders sells this too). I actually prefer this to the version made with whey protein (unflavoured). I've not tried it with almond milk or vegan alternatives to milk, but it will probably work too. Adding a banana will make the shake thicker and creamier too. I will continue to buy this powder, and also will continue to buy whey protein, and as a rule of thumb, use the whey in sweet recipes and the pea stuff for anything savoury. If you want something that you can just mix into water and shake, don't get this, get one of the flavoured powders.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has this product been tested for heavy metals? If so, what are the results?**
A: Ran some tests earlier and did find minute traces of Whitesnake and WASP. I wouldnt worry, though: it's the higher levels of Saxon that usually cause problems with people.

**Q: Has this product been tested for heavy metals? If so, what are the results?**
A: Hi there,

Our Pea Protein Isolate is tested for Heavy Metals -
Lead <3ppm
Arsenic <1ppm
Cadmium <1ppm
Mercury <0.1ppm

I hope that this helps.
Have a lovely day!

**Q: Could you sneak this into things like beans on toast, or vegan bolognese?**
A: Use it soup, porridge, pot noodles, stirred into a leafy salad bowl. Into anything low in protein that could do with a protein boost; so long as there's enough water content to dissolve it.

**Q: whats the shelf life?**
A: I can't remember the actual shelf life, it's been a while since I had this, but i do remember that i had my last few bags for what seemed like years before i gave the sealed ones away, they were still well in date when i did so, hope this helps

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ How pure is it?
*by F***H on 15 September 2026*

Four stars instead of five for always including an unnecessary plastic scoop and not do any third party tests results for purity. Been taking Protein powder for several years and this particular Bulk version for over a year and have had no issues with it at all. The Taste - ALL unflavoured powers usually tastes bad so unless you're into that, add it to a smoothie with other ingredients. I add it to my home-made bread so it’s built into my food regime with little to no effort. Don’t like; BULK doesn’t provide third-party testing results for heavy metals, pesticides and other contaminants. I contacted the company who told me; 'Their manufacturer says it's ok to consume'. In EVERY package they include a new plastic scoop, why? To help you get started perhaps - I might be in the minority but to include a spoon everytime, in ALL their products (I also use their Creatine) how many do I need? I use a stainless steel coop which will last forever. Unfortunately that plastic scoop goes in the recycle bin. BULK if you are reading this - why not instead encourage to get a metal scoop or offer it as an add-on when buying? Drop the plastic!
