Doctor Doom is one of the greatest protagonists in comics and this story uses him at the core of his beliefs. The conclusion is satisfying, if a little rushed, and makes the landing. Beautiful artwork, well paced and with deep characterisations that have built for years this is a tour de force you really must read and have in your collection. I confess that Jonathon Hickman's work is sometimes above my head and I do feel I miss some of the more subtle nuances in this book but a lack of simple narrative only is not a complaint, this does prove that comics can be clever too. No, this is not a relaunch, it is not the end of the Marvel Universe as we know it al all - it is more aa rededication to the future - and a satisfying way to sideline the Fantastic Four as a concept while the film rights are sorted out. There is an opportunity here for the Marvel Universe to become a multiverse a la the old style (new style?) DC Universe that I'm not sure they will take advantage of but clearly new avenues will present themselves. If you are reading this review - you have to have this book!
