While the Kitchenboss is much much larger it really isn't a problem for me. Tested on day one with two colossal rib eye steaks cooked med-rare and the results are just as I have come to expect from sous vide cooking, great performance. Temperature wise, it keeps within about .3 degrees (that's point 3 degrees, not 3 degrees) lower than its target temperature which is great. I'd much rather something cooked slightly under than over. The screen is a nice touch although the way images load on it reminds me of a 90s dial up connection the way it just loads from top to bottom slowly. But to have hands-on control over the sous vide rather than having to use my phone like the Joule app makes this item more practical in my opinion. Though this does also boast an app with bluetooth and wifi for longer cooks, or if I leave the house I can keep an eye on things. All in all, this is nice. Time will tell on the durability of this sous vide cooker, but it seems well made and thought out. If you can justify this sort of money on a sous vide, I'd say go for it! I find easy to navigate. I’ve owned a Joule chefsteps for many years but recently I’ve been unable to connect wirelessly and once you’ve become used to connecting picking times and temp. then start cooking all from the comfort of a chair at the other end of the house you realise how important wifi & Bluetooth is.The kitchenboss sous vide is much bigger heavier but a lot cheaper than the Joule but as a replacement it works flawlessly back to comfort controlling from a distance the screen showing different recipes is a brilliant feature and a great starting point for personal tweaking.
