Review: 2 years on, still highly recommended - I don’t usually leave reviews, but I had to share how great these are after two years of use. They sound fantastic. The bass doesn’t hit quite as hard as the top-end Sony models (which I did test when purchasing), but I ended up returning the Sonys because the overall sound quality of the Technics is better—more balanced and fuller across the range. I can comfortably wear them all day at work, easily 7 to 8 hours if not more, the battery life is excellent. They've been used and abused, dropped many times, and still work perfectly. To give a balanced review, the case seems has stopped allowing weak phone chargers to charge it, only fast chargers work. This hasn’t been an issue for me as I have plenty of fast chargers around anyway. They’re not the most secure for exercise or sudden movements—like jogging to catch a train or a closing door. You can feel them gradually working their way out, but it's usually noticeable enough that you can push them back in before they fall. The "Find My Earphone" function is genuinely helpful. I’ve used it many times to locate a lost earbud around the house—it plays a loud, high-pitched tone controlled through the app. Just note that it won’t work once the earpiece battery dies (typically after 24 hours). After two years, the "Find My Case" feature has started to deteriorate a bit—it doesn’t always update the last known location on the google maps view. That could be a phone settings issue though for me personally. Touch controls are great and customisable. I’ve set a single tap to play/pause on both ears instead of just one. No complaints from people I’ve spoken with over the phone either my voice has been clear. Finally, the noise cancelling is one of the best features. It isolates the environment so smoothly that I often wear them without music just to help concentrate at work. The semi-pass-through mode is also useful, it lets me hear people speaking nearby such as co-workers so I am and called I can answer without them throwing something at me to grab my attention. Highly rate these. I’d consider the AZ100s next time, only as they earpieces are lighter which may stay in the ear better during movement, but these are absolutely worth picking up and trying for yourself. I doubt you'll be sending them back.
Review: Sound Excellence Meets Innovation - After two weeks of extensive testing, I can confidently say that the Technics EAH-AZ80E wireless earbuds have set a new standard in premium audio. As a follow-up to the already impressive AZ70, these earbuds deliver improvements across the board that make them worth every penny for serious audio enthusiasts. Sound Quality: Audiophile-Grade Performance The sonic performance of the EAH-AZ80E is nothing short of exceptional. Featuring Technics' newly developed 10mm dynamic drivers with acoustic control chambers, these earbuds deliver an expansive soundstage with pinpoint instrument separation. Bass response is rich and well-controlled without overwhelming the mids, while the high frequencies sparkle with detail and airiness that rivals over-ear audiophile headphones. The natural tonal balance makes these suitable for any genre - from classical orchestral pieces to bass-heavy electronic music. What truly impressed me was the dynamic range - subtle details in complex recordings emerged with clarity I rarely experience in wireless earbuds. Active Noise Cancellation: Industry-Leading The AZ80E's noise cancellation technology has received a significant upgrade. Using a dual hybrid system with feedforward and feedback microphones, these earbuds create an impressive cone of silence even in challenging environments like airplane cabins and busy coffee shops. What sets them apart is the adaptive noise cancellation that automatically adjusts based on your environment without the uncomfortable pressure sensation many ANC earbuds create. Multipoint Connection & Connectivity One feature that has transformed my daily workflow is the enhanced multipoint connection capability. The EAH-AZ80E can maintain simultaneous connections to three devices (up from two in previous models), switching seamlessly between them. During my testing, transitioning from work calls on my laptop to music on my phone was instantaneous and reliable. Bluetooth 5.3 support with aptX Adaptive, LDAC, and AAC codecs ensures exceptional wireless audio quality and rock-solid connectivity regardless of your device ecosystem. Battery Life & Charging Battery performance exceeds expectations with: - 7.5 hours of playback with ANC enabled - 12 hours with ANC disabled - 24 hours total with the charging case (ANC on) The wireless charging case now supports fast charging, providing 70 minutes of playback from just a 10-minute charge perfect for those moments when you're heading out the door and realize your earbuds need a boost. Comfort & Design Technics has refined the ergonomics from previous generations, creating a secure yet comfortable fit even during extended listening sessions. The premium materials - including the brushed aluminum accents on the case - convey quality craftsmanship that justifies the price point. The IPX4 water resistance rating provides peace of mind during workouts or unexpected rain showers. App & Controls The Technics Audio Connect app offers extensive customization options without overwhelming users. The 5-band EQ allows for precise sound tailoring, while the touch control customization ensures the earbuds work exactly as you prefer. The improved touch sensitivity strikes the perfect balance - responsive enough to register intentional taps but not so sensitive that it triggers unwanted actions when adjusting the earbuds. Call Quality Call performance has received a substantial upgrade with eight microphones (four per earbud) and advanced beamforming technology. Even in windy conditions, my voice came through clearly to callers, and the enhanced voice isolation effectively filtered out background noise. Value Proposition While positioned in the premium segment, the EAH-AZ80E delivers value that justifies its price tag. The combination of exceptional sound quality, cutting-edge features, and refined user experience makes these earbuds a worthwhile investment for discerning listeners who don't want to compromise. Verdict The Technics EAH-AZ80E earbuds represent the pinnacle of what's currently possible in true wireless audio. With class-leading sound quality, impressive noise cancellation, and thoughtful features like enhanced multipoint connectivity, they've earned their place as my new everyday earbuds. If you're looking for wireless earbuds that can satisfy audiophile sensibilities while offering practical features for daily use, the EAH-AZ80E deserves a spot at the top of your list. **Rating: 9.5/10** *Pros: - Exceptional sound quality with natural tonal balance - Outstanding noise cancellation without pressure discomfort - Triple device multipoint connectivity - Impressive battery life with fast charging - Premium design and comfortable fit - Comprehensive app customization *Cons: - Premium price point - No aptX Lossless support (though LDAC largely compensates) - Slightly larger case than some competitors

### ⭐ Badly designed
*by A***R on 2 October 2026*

Great specs, bad design. The mesh for the mic is a series of microscopic holes, if these get blocked they're almost impossible to clean and the mic stops working properly. Crucially the ANC (sound cancelling and ambient sound) rely on the same mesh, so then the whole setup stops working properly and the audio output volume for everything drops by 70-80% effectively making them unusable. So yeah, great for a week or two, but for long term everyday use they are over engineered and a complete waste of money. They also fall out of your ears fairly regularly.
