Reading the other reviews indicates a common problem with the Neff hob and it's magnetic knob design which is fatally flawed. Ours like so many others, disappeared when magnetized to an oven tray and subsequently melted in the oven. If it happens that often is a problem that the manufacturer needs to address. This is a very expensive magnet. FYI if you go on you tube you can learn how to operate the hob without the knob but it's a faff.
