Review: Did the job on my 2005 fiesta . - With the right phone app it cleared the fault after my repair to the car .
Review: Handy device, just make sure to set your app (forscan) to wifi and not bluetooth and should connect - Got this to work on my Ford Focus 2008 TDCI 1.6 in the UK using FORSCAN DEMO (free) and FORSCAN LITE(bout £5) apps on my sony xperia (android). xperia ZX1 i think to be specific. I had an engine malfunction notice come up on my car and regular scanners only brought up DTC codes and not the P codes i wanted. It was a bit of research getting the settings right for it to connect with FORSCAN in the first place so i'll write here what i did. 1. Before putting it into the car you need to download FORSCAN DEMO or FORSCAN LITE. Demo will allow you to see P fault codes and see live data RPM, etc but only one at a time, FORSCAN LITE will allow you to view several live data at a time and erase stored P codes(will likely come back if problem persists but it'll get rid of the ones that no longer are issues), i had seven to begin with, 6 of which related to when my alternator screwed up and the last one that kept returning was a damn dpf one p242f. Phone and FORSCAN DEMO/LITE settings 1. turn off 4g/3g, and turn on WIFI. since this ELM device isnt connected to the internet your phone may automatically disconnect wifi connection to it and use the 4g/3g which will likely piss you off so turn off 4g/3g for now. 2. Both FORSCAN DEMO and LITE apps had the same settings for me to change so open which ever app you have and scroll down to the settings. Connection type = WIFI (its bluetooth on forscan to begin with so needs to be wifi for this device), Auto-connect = Connect automatically when the application is started, MS-CAN Support = HS/MS switch WIFI PORT = 35000 (was this value in the first place but thought id write it down here in case it helps anybody). After setting up your app/phone its time to stick this thing in the car. Firstly on this device itself youll notice 'ms-can' and 'hs-can' written on it with arrows which corresponds with the toggle switch thing on it. set it to 'hs-can' to begin then stick it into the car while the ignition is off. Go to your phone and connect to the wifi of the OBD device (should come up as OBD 2 or something). load up your FORSCAN app (may help to close other apps at this point) , it may try to connect automatically, if you are getting 'No ELM found. Please check connection and try again', turn the ignition to 2 and try again by pressing the plug looking like button top right of the forscan app. If still 'No ELM found'. try turning the car on fully then press the plug like button on your forscan app to try and connect again. it may take a couple tries to connect to ELM but it should connect at this point( may differ between different cars). If it still doesnt connect to ELM at this point just re-check your connected to the obd devices wifi and that the FORSCAN app settings is as ive stated above, maybe turning 'enable bluetooth' off on the forscan app also might help. After youve connected to ELM via Forscan it's pretty straight forward after that and there are plenty of forscan vids on youtube for people to browse how to use the app. Like many things after you've done this process once, youll find it pretty straight forward but getting the 'No ELM found' message constantly with the instructions not quite covering everything will really piss you off. In short make sure your connected to the odb wifi and that your forscan app is set to use wifi and not bluetooth and you should be alright.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this work on android phones**
A: No this is for the iPhone but they do a version for android

**Q: Would this unit help identify which TPMS sensor is faulty?**
A: The problem could be a damaged or shorted antenna near the wheel, or a wiring fault between the antenna and the module,if it's can gets read by Bluetooth module than may be,but definitely not this cheap device,it won't read my mercedes sensors

**Q: what is the default port number of the WiFi ?**
A: 35000 in FORscan lite and Torque on my android phone

**Q: Whereabouts do you get the software for the android model**
A: Depends what you want to do with it, there are various free software downloads available via Google, or if you want to use it to its full potential, look for forscan. There is a free trial available, and it's probably the best out there.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good
*by K***N on 3 June 2023*

It's a useful tool to have and can quickly give any diagnostic info and run tests. The options available with the use of FORSCAN lite is great, helped me out in a pinch, although I would still recommend having a cable version hooked to a laptop for most heavy functions (some of which are unavailable for use using this type).
