Love the MagicRaven portable 4k monitor. I am a technology project consultant working from home and on the road across the nation at customer sites. I use three 4k monitors at home with a Microsoft Surface Pro * with the i7-1185G7 processor. I miss having my screen real estate while on the road. My clients typically have HD monitors, and the adage "once you go 4k you'll never go back" comes true. I have used the "4K Portable Monitor, 14.5" IPS Laptop Screen, Slim Lightweight 1500:1 monitor" now for several trips since December and find the quality of the image is great with no noticeable pixel issues. By adjusting the scaling in Display settings to 175%, I am able to keep the font and window sizing similar to my Surface tablet screen. The monitor can use power from the PC or from a separate power source, so you don't have rely on your PC battery to support both. The case is simple and light weight with easy setup. It is not as protective as some cases, but I carry the monitor with my tablet in my backpack padded pocket. All the cables come with the monitor. The most impressive part of this monitor has been the MagicRaven support. I did have an issue with powering the monitor from a separate source. MigicRaven support quickly diagnosed the problem via Amazon vendor chat and promptly replaced the monitor. After receiving the replacement monitor, I had an issue with one of the settings and MagicRaven responded quickly to my enquiry with clear instructions on how to correct the issue.

I'm using this while traveling, and it's the perfect size to sit alongside my 13" MacBook Air (2022 model with M2). The monitor weighs only 490g (1.08 pounds) and with the cover/stand it comes in at 843g (1.86 pounds). That's less than a 13" iPad Pro, while offering a larger screen and higher resolution. I have no problem powering the screen from my laptop, although the battery does drain noticeably faster and it's best to keep it plugged in. The screen isn't of the same quality as the laptop's (e.g. blacks aren't as black) but it's close enough for the type of work I do. For photography or video work you'd probably be better with an iPad. The menus offer plenty of options to adjust the display and settings are saved when you unplug it. Note that if you're using this with a MacBook, you may need to install SwitchResX to access the full resolution of the screen.

Cons: The menu button is oddly slim and sharp, so pressing down to adjust settings is uncomfortable. Doesn't communicate with your computer / laptop, so there's no use of apps to adjust brightness or color that I could find. 60hz is low for something I might game on, but as a portal able 4k screen it's fine, no portalable game will be noticeable. I prefer oled over matte screens, but the brightness makes up for it. All of this is basically a half star off, small things that are a luxury to have, but for this price point are more than good enough to not notice or care. Personal con, I wish the hdmi port were on the bottom or top... the long sides of the screen, so it would sit more flush with my own personal set up, but it isn't something I'd take points away for. Pros. Everything else. Lightweight, 4k, 400 nits, the screen ratio is nice, it's bright, vibrant, and It doesn't feel like it will break if I drop it, and it's at a great price point, bought a stand to go with it, all under $200. 5/5 honestly, time will tell.

Screen hardware is good. Controls and settings system sucks and forces you to adjust every time you connect to your computer. DIM by default. Toggle switches are not preceise -- overall good when set, but setting it (every time) sucks.

This has worked fantastically for me. I spent a few months traveling and my job is almost impossible to do without two monitors, so I gave this a try. The picture quality was plenty good enough for looking at spreadsheets all day and the brightness was sufficient for my needs too. It is fairly lightweight and is pretty slim when storing it. It comes with all the cables I could have ever needed and the case/stand was sturdy. The way the screen and case are structured, it was tough to get the screen as vertical as I would have liked when I had it closer to eye level, but when it was at table height and I was looking downward, the angle was perfect.

This monitor is completely not as good as it described on the website . I'm very disappointed with the screen resolution. They say it is a 4k monitor. No way ! Even the 720p resolution is more clear than that. Moreover, watch out the galary image is different from the actual item. There are many other options for you to choose. Otherwise it is going to waste your time and energy for nothing!

This is a nice light portable screen that works excellent for me. I am using it in a data rack with tight space and it is perfect for it but I can tell it will be awesome for traveling as well since it comes with a nice screen protector that doubles as a stand (similar to an iPad) cover.

Purchased May 2024. Was very impressed initially. I needed a portable second monitor when traveling for work. I kept safe and secure in a padded travel case with my laptop, and only used it when needed. After not traveling for 9 months I pulled it out today to get ready for a trip and the now (June 2025) the display has broken. It powers appropriately but the entire screen now has snow and the left side is completely unusable. I've tried using the cables provided as well as newer higher quality USB-C cables capable of supporting 8K. No joy. And of course it's just past the 1 year warranty... It should not have broken considering I used it less than a dozen time in total. Edit (Nov 2025): Have modified my origin review... I noted that the Amazon product description states a two year warranty. I contacted support and sent them photos of the non-functioning display along with a pdf of the purchase information. They graciously sent me a replacement via Amazon and I'm back in business. That support alone is worth the purchase.
