I used a different make and ended up with a perfect etching on the perspex plate?** A: You can use other die's in the machine and all, including sizzix will etch into the plates. I try to use only the same plate for the cutting edge so you can make the most out of the plates before eventually buying new ones **Q: If i have a relevant die and fabric have i everything to start cutting my fabric when i take it out of box? sylvia** A: Yes, the machine comes with cutting plates and the platforms. **Q: Is it necessary to use a C plate when die-cutting?** A: The Sizzix Big Shot does not use plates labelled A, B and C as the Cuttlebug does. The Big Shot comes with a Multipurpose Platform and 2 cutting plates. If you are asking if you must use a cutting plate when die cutting, then the answer is yes. Your die and paper, card stock or other material for cutting, is sandwiched between these 2 cutting plates.
