Featuring precise ATTACK, RELEASE, and RATIO controls plus a TONE knob to maintain note clarity, it’s housed in a rugged metal alloy case with ambient LED lighting for a sleek stage presence. Compatible with standard 9V DC power supplies, this pedal delivers professional-grade sound shaping for live and studio use. ## Description The JOYO R-27 SCYLLA is an optical bass compressor pedal that delivers smooth, transparent compression through a genuine light-dependent resistor (LDR) circuit—the same technology prized in professional studio compressors. Six dedicated controls—Attack, Release, Ratio, Tone, Input, and Output—give you complete command over your dynamics. Optical compression naturally evens out volume peaks, adds sustain, and tightens your playing without coloring your core tone. Whether you're playing bass, guitar, or acoustic instruments, the SCYLLA delivers polished, professional sound with remarkably low noise. Key Features: Genuine optical compressor circuit (LDR-based) for smooth, transparent compression with high headroom 6-knob control: Attack, Release, Ratio, Tone, Input, and Output—studio-grade flexibility for any playing style ATTACK adjusts compression engagement speed—fast for smoothing, slow to preserve pick attack transients RELEASE controls compression recovery time—short for tight, percussive basslines, long for singing sustain RATIO sets compression intensity—from subtle 2:1 evening to heavy limiting TONE control—unique timbral flexibility rarely found on compressors at this price: brighten for presence, darken for warmth Independent INPUT and OUTPUT controls for precise gain staging with any instrument Gain reduction indicator LED shows compression activity in real time True bypass (relay-based) for transparent signal path when disengaged Ambient LED lighting with 3 modes: Sync, Always On, or Off—adjustable via recessed switch Part of the R Series—JOYO's latest generation of guitar effects pedals Rugged aluminum alloy housing with classic stoving varnish finish Compact, pedalboard-friendly design: 109×72×48mm, 237g Important: Powered by 9V DC adapter only (center negative, not included). Rated current: 100mA. Battery operation is not supported. A regulated, isolated power supply is strongly recommended for the quietest performance. Quality Assurance: Every JOYO R-27 SCYLLA is tested before shipping. For the quietest performance—especially with high-headroom optical circuits—use a regulated, isolated 9V power supply (not included) and avoid daisy-chaining with other pedals. If you experience a high-pitched whine or hum, first check your power supply—incompatible or unregulated adapters are the most common cause. For best results with compression, start with all controls at noon, set Ratio to 4:1, then adjust Input to drive the compression circuit and Output to match your bypassed volume. If problems persist, our support team is available through your desertcart order page. No. ## Features - OPTICAL COMPRESSOR CIRCUIT — STUDIO-GRADE TRANSPARENCY: The SCYLLA features a genuine optical compressor circuit using a light-dependent resistor (LDR) for smooth, musical compression that evens out dynamics without squashing your tone. Optical compression is prized in professional studios for its transparent, high-headroom response—controlling peaks and adding sustain while preserving your bass's natural character. Players describe the tone as "shockingly quiet"—a low-noise CMOS design that outperforms many compressors. - 6-KNOB PRECISION CONTROL — ATTACK, RELEASE, RATIO, TONE, INPUT & OUTPUT: Sculpt your perfect compression with six dedicated controls. ATTACK adjusts how quickly compression engages—fast for smoothing aggressive pick attack, slow to preserve punchy transients. RELEASE controls how long compression holds—short for tight, percussive playing, long for smooth sustain. RATIO sets compression intensity from subtle 2:1 to heavy limiting. TONE adds unique timbral flexibility—brighten for presence, or darken for a warmer thump. INPUT and OUTPUT provide precise gain staging for any bass, from passive single coils to active humbuckers. - BUILT FOR BASS — BUT VERSATILE FOR ALL INSTRUMENTS: While optimized for bass guitar, the SCYLLA's transparent optical circuit makes it equally capable with electric guitar, acoustic instruments, and even keyboards. Use it to tighten slap bass dynamics, smooth out fingerstyle passages, add sustain to clean leads, or control volume peaks in any signal chain. The subtle, musical compression won't color your core tone—it simply makes everything sound more polished and professional. - ROAD-READY R SERIES DESIGN: True bypass switching—confirmed by relay design—preserves your instrument's natural tone when the pedal is disengaged. Encased in a rugged aluminum alloy, the SCYLLA features the iconic R Series ambient LED lighting with 3 modes (Sync, Always On, or Off) via a recessed switch on the underside. The smooth, responsive chrome knobs and sturdy footswitch are built to withstand heavy stomping night after night. A subtle gain reduction indicator LED shows compression activity in real time. - JOYO QUALITY & AFTER-SALES CONFIDENCE: Backed by JOYO's decade-plus reputation for crafting innovative, budget-friendly gear. The SCYLLA is part of the R Series, built with upgraded precision components. Important: Powered by 9V DC adapter only (center negative, not included). Rated current: 100mA. Battery operation is not supported. For the quietest performance—especially with high-headroom optical circuits—use a regulated, isolated 9V power supply and avoid daisy-chaining with other pedals. Designed for Bass, the R-27 SCYLLA, a compressor pedal, low noise and high dynamic. **Q: Does this pedal come with the power supply or adapter?** A: No, both are not included. I highly recommend JOYO mutli-tipped 9V adapter and power supply with noise reduction technology. Because an incompatible power supply may cause the noise, pedal damage, can't turn on, powered but can't work properly. **Q: How to reduce noise from external equipment?** A: please check carefully before playing! 1.If the circuit shielded of electric guitar is bad, may cause the noise. 2.The amplifier without ground wire or Invalid connection. 3.Poor quality instrument cable and pickups cause noise, damage or no sound. **Q: What should we do if the pedal does not work?** A: First, please read the instructions carefully. Then, check that the power supply is suitable. Secondly, check whether the product packaging is damaged. If you still have questions, please let me know by email. We will reply quickly within 24 hours! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Une disto bass originale *by V***B on 19 April 2024* Cette pédale de distorsion n'est pas une simple copie de Darkglass, elle a un son et un caractère bien à elle.
