As long as you are using a smartphone that has the square app installed and your BLUETOOTH on. It can accept contactless chip card as well as the mag strip for swipe cards. **Q: how long does it stay charged on average, with continued use** A: Have learned to carry a charger with me for full day events. It's going to depend on how many transactions it processes. Mine will process about 12 transactions before needing to recharge in about 6 hours. Learned that first day I used it and it went dead. No other problems besides updates. Someone said it will stay charged for 18 hours. It will if its NOT used to process transactions. If you are doing an all day event, be safe and carry a charger. **Q: What if a client doesn't have a chip?
