At first I made a mistake and thought it was defective before I watched a youtube video. If you're finding the camera not turning on, first make sure you open this little flap I've circled in the photo in blue, have the dummy battery cable pass through the slot created by moving the plastic flap then close the battery door and it should work just fine.
