This was a little slow, lots of personal family information for Claire, for that it moved the story arc along. It picks up 5 weeks after book 2, Liam comes back in, we see more of the other supporting characters in this book than before. Something that bothered me throughout the story was how easily they moved around the city, supposedly there are bounties on their heads with all of Containment and hunters looking for them, yet it was easy to elude them, even going into Devil's Island. Question about the Veil, obviously it has boundaries, if you're magical you can see it but if not you really have to look for it, so here's my question, if not magical do you walk right past and through it not knowing its there? or is it a huge divide across the country that would separate at least a good portion of Louisiana from it's north and south, I know we aren't supposed to use common sense in these kinds of books, but huh?It does end with lots left up in the air, not huge cliffhanger, but what's going to happen to the Paras, mother's victims least of all. We know what needs to be prepared for and how the next book should be starting at least... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Incredibe Fantasy novel *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2017* Book three in the Devil's Isle series. I loved it, I loved it, I loved it!!!! This entire series has been absolutely incredible and this installment did not let me down. After book two ended with a cliff hanger I was dying to gets my hands on this one so I could see what happens next which is why I pre-ordered it and got my hands on it release day. In a truly inspired style Claire forces Liam to admit what he did and that it was wrong (though it does take quite a bit of time for him to do that). I really enjoyed this because most female characters would have caved before hand but not our independent Claire. She has a mind of her won and knows how to use it which she shows very well throughout this entire book. The suspense heats up and of course there is yet another cliff hanger. I highly recommend this book to anyone that read the first two and if you enjoy great YA fantasy books then you definitely need to give these a shot. I loved it so much it gets 5/5 stars. My only regret is that now I have to wait yet again to find out what happens next and the release date hasn't even been rumored yet this time. I loved her other series but this was starker, harsher ,gritty. Louisiana, particularly New Orleans, has become the battleground between humans and a fae like people from another dimension. The far like people are called paras. As often happens the humans are no difference between paras that are good and paras that want to kill them. Most humans anyway. This is the third installment in the series.
