It is primarily a decorative item that provides a soothing effect while watching the rain dribble down the links--or, in this case, beautiful copper leaves. This "chain" requires a bit more attention than standard link chains in that the leaves must be kept as vertical as possible to avoid unwanted splashing. This is easily done during installation by simple centering the loops from which the leaves hang, and perhaps bending the tab on the leaf to assure it remains vertical.
