For me, I would have given 5 stars but I did need to replace the nylon wing nut and bolt that holds the overflow on. I was not able to tighten it enough that I felt comfortable the overflow would not move or fall off. $2.50 at the hardware store gets you a better nylon bolt and wing nut that will tighten without stripping the threads. I would have also liked to have seen two nylon nuts and bolts to hold on the overflow instead of one. With only one, it has the potential to get knocked when doing maintenance or taking lids on or off and the overflow can go crooked and mess up the adjustment. Replacing the nylon nut and bolt as mentioned about will help with this. I would also recommend to the manufacturer to offer some recommended options for how to connect the bulk head in the drain box to plumb to the sump. Overall, I would purchase again. I purchased 2 and they have been running perfectly and have not lost siphon once. The water level on both sides of the overflow pipe will remain submerged when the water stops flowing, preventing any air to get into the tube, causing the siphon break. When the power comes on, the system will automatically restart when the water level in the tank exceeds the height of overflow container in the tank. I've had several outages that did not result in any overflow of the tank. However, I have had air get into the overflow tube and restrict the amount of water that can move through the pipe causing the tank to overflow. This was caused by biological growth in the tank side causing air to be pulled into the water, causing air to accumulate in the overflow pipe. Regular maintenance will prevent this from happening. **Q: What is the measurement on the outside of the overflow? Widest point from glass to backside of overflow?** A: From the outside of my aquarium to the outside edge of the overflow device is 3.25" **Q: What's the flow rate for this what size return pump would you need?** A: The flow is rated at like 200 gallon per hour. I installed a gate valve on the pump not sure how fast the overflow box would work without bringing the water level too high in the tank until I knew where my water levels needed to be in my sump. I now have lines on my sump for water levels Max and Minimum. My gate valve is now fully open moving 240GPH. Just use an airline to remove air from overflow U tube.
