## Description

The SCALA1 is a self-priming, multistage pump, that incorporates all the components of a pressure booster into a compact composite enclosure. As it is self-priming, the SCALA1 can pump water from a level below the pump. Provided it is filled with water, the pump can lift water from a depth of 26 feet in less than 5 minutes. This facilitates easy installation and start-up of the pump and provides more reliable water supply in installations where there is a risk of dry running and leakages in suction hose or pipes. In city water or well water applications, use a PRLV-30, Pressure Reducing Limit Valve on the suction side of the pump to 30 PSI to prevent inbound water from exceeding the 43 PSI max inlet pressure. SCALA1 can communicate with Grundfos GO app via built in Bluetooth, which enables detailed pump monitoring and high customization options, making this pump a good fit for every application. SCALA1 incorporates advanced protection features such as: Dry running protection that will automatically stop the pump in case of water shortage Cycling protection which will prevent pump starting frequently in case of minor leakages in installation Max runtime protection can stop the pump after a desired period of continuous operation, preventing potential damage due flooding in case of pipe breakages. The pump has a built-in motor protection that will stop the pump if exposed to excessive temperature due to high ambient temperature, in case of seizure or overload, thus preventing a motor burnout. With Grundfos GO, you can easily setup SCALA1 as a Twin booster system, operating as duty/stand by as well as duty/assist. It is also possible to add external input Note: A small, 2 - 4 gallon pressure tank is recommended in applications where a water heater is in place to allow for thermal expansion in the line. A small pressure tank will also prevent cycling when a leak is present in the piping, extending the life of the pump.

Review: Works great now BUT... - Scala1 3-45 Used it to replace my 12 year old GRUNDFOS pump. Unfortunately GRUNDFOS have changed the fitting location so not a drop in installation. I also don't like the literature with it- very little useable info- had to find an installation manual on-line. For instance there is a three position "PERFORMANCE" setting located inside that should be checked (I turned mine to positive I/P pressure). A bigger issue was the pump initially just hummed loudly and the lights dimmed- the motor was stuck! The instalation Manual mentioned how to turn the motor over w a screw driver and now it is purring. UPDATE- for several days it would just hum instead of pumping. I had to give it a turn w the screwdriver every time. I was going to return it after Xmas but it is now working perfectly. I suspect the switch for the start capacitor was stuck open. Maybe my tapping the unit free’d it up.

A: The voltage on THIS scala 1-3-45 is 120v.  There is another pump with the exact same model available elsewhere for 240v.

**Q: How well is the product packaged for shipping? Just don't want to have the issue of opening box with a cracked case.**
A: It’s packed well. If you get it from Rainwater Equipment, we even take extra steps to reinforce the box and add more protective packaging inside.

**Q: I will be taking water from a storage tank and running a 5 gpm tripod sprinkler that is 450ft from the tank. will this pump handle that?**
A: It's depends on the pipe size and type and if you are pushing water uphill. If you are using 1" SCH40 PVC pipe or larger, and the elevation is flat, then yes, it should be fine.

**Q: Can this pump be used outdoor?**
A: Yes, but you'll need to insulate/protect it from freezing temps.
