Charles shows you how to mix the color, what brush to use, and walks you through the painting techniques. I was surprised at how not-too-bad some of my paintings turned out. My only criticism is that the book abruptly ends after finishing the final scene, with no closing words or suggestions of where to go from here. Still, highly recommended for the absolute beginner. I am an absolute beginner when it comes to acrylics, except I have some knowledge based on working with acrylic paint doing Paint by Number pieces. If I hadn't read about this type of paint before, I would be pretty intimated by the book. However, I must say that the real value of the book is the step-by-step approach and great visual representations, along with the outlines for tracing.
