While it requires some modification for best results, it provides a practical and affordable entry point into advanced lockpicking techniques.

Review: Does the job with cheap locks, can be modified to work much better, super cheap. - A big factor in my giving this four stars is the price - I paid less than seven quid for this, and at that price point I'm totally happy with it. Could it be better, even at that price? Probably (see below), but no big deal. I have never picked disc detainer locks before, only pin tumbler ones, but, after watching the lockpickinglawyer's tutorial, I was able to pick both a practice lock, and a cheap and nasty lock provided and branded by a self-storage company, without having to modify the pick at all. (Yes, it was my own lock, from my own storage unit!) (Clearly, they spared every expense in their selection of lock OEM.) For the vast majority of disc detainer locks, though, you're not going to be able to pick them with this thing as supplied. You can, however, fairly easily make it into a tool that will be useful (given the skills) to pick quite a few such locks. The most pressing issue with it is that the little T-shaped end is too thick. You can carefully file it down to make it thinner, but this is risky, because of the way it's made. Which brings me to the way this could be improved even at the low price. The T-shaped end is crimped on to the inner shaft. If you thin it down too much, it won't grip well enough and it will just turn. (Some folk have complained that it does that anyway, but if the grubscrew that secures the inner shaft isn't tight enough, the effect is the same). The improvement that they could make without it getting any more expensive would be to have a single piece inner shaft and T-piece However, the aforementioned grubscrew allows you to do this yourself - just remove the shaft with the crimped on end, and replace it with one with a forged or welded end. Further refinements like positioning marks on the outer shaft, better handles, general improvement in finish, etc., can all be done by the keen DIY type. Many lock picking tools, in fairness, require the user to finish them to their own needs. Overall, then, given that, for me, this would open cheaply made disc detainer locks from the get-go, and is nearer to a generally useful disc detainer pick than, say, making one entirely from scratch, I think it's fair for the price, and I have no complaints. If it were selling for much more, I'd be far more harsh about it, but as it is, no complaints.
Review: Needs to be filed to right size - I had to modify this as the end was to big so I filed it down but it came loose so I had to braze it back on now it works really well

Received it in a raw and unfinished state. Have to file down until it is usable.
