We have never mixed it with water, so we can't answer that part of your question. However, our cat would not like being fed by syringe. **Q: do i need a prescription** A: No prescription required. My cat was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease on New Years Eve. She wasn’t given a good prognosis, but when I introduced this to her diet (food she liked) she rallied. So even though this was a bit too late for her, I do think it gave me extra time and she did eat well and was comfortable until she passed.
